The Zhanjiang Coca-Cola Beverage Co., Ltd. officially opened for business in Zhanjiang December 16, 2005. The new facility required a total investment of 48 million yuan and has a yearly production capacity of 8 million standard cases.
The marketing area for this plant, which is the sixth controlled stock bottling plant financed and built by the COFCO Coca-Cola Beverage Co., Ltd., includes Zhanjiang and Maoming.
The COFCO Coca-Cola Beverage Co., Ltd., founded in April 2000, is a joint venture of COFCO and the US Coca-Cola Company and the first Coke bottling group with stock controlled by a Chinese interest. The group mainly engages in production and marketing of Coke products for 14 provinces, autonomous regions and cities directly under the central government, including parts of the western region of the country.
As of this date, COFCO Coca-Cola controls the stock and manages the 6 bottling plants in Tianjin, Hainan, Hunan, Jilin, Gansu and Zhanjiang and holds stock in and manages 11 other plants out of the 29 Coke bottling plants on the mainland.
