The National Science and Technology Awards Meeting was held by CCCPC and the State Council in Beijing on February 14, 2012. The top national leaders attended the meeting and gave awards to winners. Mr. Yue Guojun, Assistant President of COFCO Corporation, General Manager of Biological Chemicals and Energy Division and team leader for the project of Cassava Non-Grain Fuel Ethanol Complete Technology and Engineering Application, received the silver prize for the team. The project is finished jointly by Guangxi COFCO Biomass Energy Co., Ltd. and Tianjin University.
The project developed cassava non-grain fuel ethanol complete production technology with independent intelligent property right. The technology reaches the international level on the whole. It has been applied to many projects. The Cassava Fuel Ethanol Demonstration Project of 200,000 Tons Annual Production developed by Guangxi COFCO Biomass Energy Co., Ltd. helped local farmers increase incomes cumulatively by RMB 1.3 billion. It also reduced hydrocarbon and oxynitride emissions of vehicles.
